It is believed that modern day paisley has been derived from Persia and India. In Persia the design is referred to as Boteh and is a design that is the convergences of stylized floral spray and the cypress tree. During the rule of the Qajar dynasty in Iran this pattern became very popular, Paisl...ey shawls were often given as dowry or used for ceremonial occasions and to decorate royal regalia.

Paisley was first introduced to into the western culture in the 17th century via the East India Trading Company and quickly became very popular. The western term for this design- paisley- is derived from the town of Paisley in Scotland who quickly became the foremost producers of paisley shawls.

Today in the US paisley is most commonly associated with the 1960s and free-spirits. However after learning the history of paisley I have reconsidered what it stands for to me. Now I when I think paisley I think of exotic lands in the middle east and richness. Paisleys in deep rich colors like red will make the pattern seem infinitely more exotic and rich!

The word toile is actually an old French word that meant “linen fabric” or “canvas”, it entered the English vernacular in the 16th century as a word meaning painted on cloth, as all imported toile from France had patterns or paintings printed on them. The traditional scenes of toile are still present today even, patterns are still of intricate scenes of the county side, pastures, and floral arrangements. Most often these designs are printed in a single color (most commonly black, blue, red and green) on an off white background. This style is most commonly associated with bed furnishings, upholstery and drapery but can be used for many other decorations such as on clothing and wallpaper.

About Our Return Policy:  As a small retailer we strive to offer great values at a lower markup than traditional retailers. Yet we still offer a full 30 day return policy. Unlike many internet retailers which offer free shipping but deduct shipping costs if items are returned, we offer a full 100% refund if items are returned following our return policy. With increasing fuel costs our shipping costs are rising all the time. Our free shipping policy costs us over 10% of the merchandise total. To help us maintain our free shipping policy and prevent our customers the cost of returning unwanted items please feel free to ask questions regarding our product via email or phone and be sure to check your order confirmation to ensure that your order reads correctly prior to items shipping. To help us keep our prices low and keep bringing you new and exciting items, we accept returns for up to 30 days from the date it originally shipped. Your packing slip shows the last date your item may arrive back for a full refund.  

Returns and Refunds:

We are proud of our collection and your satisfaction is our goal at Bella Home Fashions. Items can be returned for a full refund. Please email info@bellahomefashions.com  for a return authorization.  Items must be received back to Bella Home Fashions within 30 days from date of shipment. Used or laundered items are not eligible for any refund.  Return shipping is at your expense, using the carrier of your choice.  Items shipped back as “refused”, “return to sender” or “not ordered” will be subject to any return freight charges billed to Bella Home Fashions by the carrier and will be deducted from any refund unless pre-authorized. If you choose to return your item late, items received after 30 days but no more than 60 days from date of shipment will be refunded less a 10% restocking fee. To avoid a restocking fee be sure to email for a return authorization in a timely manner. If you do not receive a return authorization email within 1 Business day of your request please call us at 503-452-3749. Returns received after 60 days will be returned to sender and no refund issued.

Exchanges:

Please follow the procedure for a return. Then place a new order for the item you would like.

Please note: To be accepted for return, items must be in their original purchase condition, contained within the original product packaging with any documentation, warranty cards, manuals, and all accessories that were included. Any item that you received with tags attached must be returned with those tags intact. All packaging, including the original manufacturer's containers, must be unmarked and not defaced in any manner. Items purchased as part of a set may not be returned individually. Returns that do not meet these requirements will be sent back and no refund will be issued.

Please include a copy of your receipt with an explanation for your return. Please allow 7 business days for your refund to be initiated.
